OUTER LIGHT BREWING COMPANY TEAMS WITH BOBBY FLAY AND BAR AMERICAIN FOR BEER DINNER
Uncasville, CT: Outer Light Brewing Company (OLBC), a local craft brewery in Groton, CT, paired its beers with dishes designed by Bobby Flay and his culinary team at a beer dinner held at Mohegan Sun’s Bar Americain on Tuesday, November 10th.
A three-course, three-beer dinner featured exceptional dishes complemented with unique beers, including a garam masala spiced farmhouse ale paired with curry mussels and shrimp, with wild rice waffles; and a tropical Black IPA paired with apricot and green chile-glazed beer-braised pork shoulder, served over pumpkin polenta.
A signature cocktail, created using OLBC’s flagship Lonesome Boatman Ale, greeted guests.
“We were grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Bobby and his team. It’s flattering to be considered at a caliber deserving of being paired with Bobby’s dishes”, said Tom Drejer, co-founder of OLBC.
“We emphasize the quality of our product first and foremost, and we’ve succeeded in creating singular beers that are approachable, flavorful, and enjoyable.”

“We were impressed with the balance each of the beers displayed and were ecstatic to collaborate with Outer Light,” said Flay. “We found it was a delight to use their beers to cook and pair with these special dishes. We appreciate the excellent work from the brewers at Outer Light.”
OLBC began working with Flay’s team in August, when they toured the brewery and first sampled the beers in order to better understand the brewing process and devise potential pairings. A collaboration seemed natural.
“[OLBC] sent us beer in New York in these big glass jugs so we could play with it ahead of time. We were drunk for two weeks,” Flay quipped.
Outer Light Brewing Company opened its doors to the public in April 2015 and has made its mark on the Connecticut brewing scene. Currently distributed on draft in eastern Connecticut and across much of the State’s shoreline, OLBC will expand into the Hartford market next month and will begin distribution of bottled products in early 2016.
